Ciampa's compositions include Suite Siciliana (Op. 145) for two violins, piano, and orchestra, commissioned by the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston to open their 25th anniversary season and performed by that organization in Sanders Theatre at Harvard University.  Other important compositions include three Organ Symphonies, a piano quintet, and a large body of sacred choral music.

As an organ recitalist, has made five tours of Europe and in 2007 will tour Italy.  In April 2001, Ciampa was nominated Director of Music of St. Paul's Church in Brookline.  For twelve years prior (1989-2001), he held a similar position at the First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain (Boston), on whose renowned 1859 E. & G. G. Hook organ (destroyed by fire in 2005) Ciampa recorded two well-respected CDs for AFKA Records, No Room at the Inn and No Room at the Inn, Volume II. A third CD, Stained Glass, also with AFKA Records, will be released in 2008.

As a piano recitalist, Ciampa's colorful sound and warm style recall the Golden Age of Pianists.  He has performed all the Polonaises, Mazurkas, Waltzes, Ballades, and Scherzos of Chopin; all the late piano pieces of Brahms; and the complete Well-Tempered Clavier of Bach.

Among vocal coaches and accompanists of Italian and Neapolitan song, Ciampa is Boston's leading expert.

As an author, Ciampa has written The Twilight of Belcanto (including an interview with the legendary soprano Virginia Zeani), Don Lorenzo Perosi (the very first biography of that celebrated composer ever to appear in the English language), Pope Pius XII: A Dialogue, and is currently completing Beniamino Gigli: A Commemoration 1957-2007.

Mr. Ciampa is the Founding Director of both Orient Heights Music and Coro Polifonico of Boston.

Nato nel 1971, LEONARDO CIAMPA è indubbiamente uno dei musicisti più dotati e versatili della sua generazione. È compositore, organista, autore, pianista, e maestro ripassatore/accompagnatore. In tutti questi cinque campi si è particolarmente distinto guadagnando consenso di critica e pubblico.

I componimenti di Ciampa includono Suite Siciliana Op. 145 (per due violini, pianoforte ed orchestra), commissionata dalla Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra di Boston per aprire la stagione del suo 25º anniversario. I numerosi pezzi sacri includono messe, opere organistiche (comprese tre Sinfonie per organo), e più di ottanta arrangiamenti di inni.

Come concertista di pianoforte, Ciampa è noto per il suono colorito e lo stile caloroso che richiamano l'età d'oro dei Pianisti. Ha eseguito tutte le Polacche, le Mazurche, i Valzer, le Ballate, e gli Scherzi di Chopin, tutti i brani pianistici brahmsiani della maturità, ed il Clavicembalo Ben Temperato completo di Bach. Inoltre, Ciampa è conosciuto per le sue interpretazioni di Lecuona e della sua propria musica.

Fra i ripassatori e gli accompagnatori del canto italiano e di quello napoletano, Ciampa è certamente il più esperto di Boston.

Was sein Klavierspiel betrifft, so erinnern Ciampas farbiger Klang und sein warmer Stil an das "goldene Zeitalter der Pianisten". Sein Repertoire umfasst sämtliche Polonaisen, Mazurken, Walzer, Balladen und Scherzos von Chopin, das gesamte späte Klaviermusikwerk von Brahms and sämtliche Werke Bachs für das Wohltemperierte Klavier. Der Künstler ist auch für seine Interpretationen von Lecuona und die seiner eigenen Werke bekannt.

Ciampa ist einer der erfahrensten und angesehensten Gesangsrepetitoren und -begleiter und hat sich als führender Experte Bostons für das italienische – und insbesondere das neapolitanische – Lied etabliert.

Ciampa ist der Autor von vier Büchern, darunter "The Twilight of Belcanto" (das 2005 seine zweite Auflage erlebte) und "Don Lorenzo Perosi" (die erste englischsprachige Biografie dieses Komponisten), und vollendet momentan "Beniamino Gigli: A Commemoration 1957-2007".
